Your complete guide to accessing and understanding your GATE score card

Can I download or print the marks displayed on GOAPS portal?

The marks provided on the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal are for your information only. An electronic or paper copy of this document is not valid as an official score card.

How can I obtain my official Score Card?

You must download your official Score Card from the GOAPS portal during the specified download period.

Download Periods:

  • Free Download: Available for approximately 2 months after results declaration
  • Paid Download: Available for 6 months after free period ends (fee applicable)
  • No Availability: Score Cards are permanently unavailable after this period

The GATE Score Card is only provided to candidates who meet the minimum qualifying marks criteria.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must score equal to or above the qualifying marks for SC/ST/PwD categories in your paper
  • Other candidates will not receive a score card
  • Performance reports may be available for non-qualifying candidates

What is the validity period of GATE Score Card?

The GATE Score Card remains valid for three years from the date of result declaration. The exact validity period is clearly mentioned on your Score Card.

Why does my score show negative marks or negative GATE score?

Negative Marks:

Some candidates may receive negative net total marks based on their performance in the examination.

Negative GATE Score:

The GATE score calculation uses a normalization formula that may result in negative scores even with positive marks. This is not an error but a result of the statistical calculation method.

Can I download my performance report if I didn’t qualify?

Yes, candidates who score below the qualifying marks will be able to download a performance report at a later date. The availability date will be announced on the official GATE website.

Important Notice

All candidates are advised to download and save multiple copies of their Score Card during the free download period. The official GATE Score Card is required for all admission processes and cannot be reissued after the availability period ends.
