How many GATE papers can I apply for?

You can apply for either one or two papers from the approved combinations listed in the GATE brochure.

Important Notes:

  • Choose papers relevant to your qualifying degree
  • Consider the requirements of your target institutions
  • Two-paper combinations must be from the approved list

Can I choose my exam session if multiple are available?

No, exam sessions are automatically assigned by the system and cannot be chosen or changed by candidates.

Can I change my exam paper after applying?

Yes, but only during the specified correction window after the application deadline, with additional payment.

Remember:

  • Changes are subject to availability
  • Additional fees apply for changes
  • No changes allowed after the correction window closes

Can I change my examination city after submission?

Yes, examination city change requests are permitted during the correction window period after the last date for application submission, subject to availability and against additional payment.

Note:

  • Changes depend on seat availability in requested city
  • No requests accepted after correction window closes

Is category change permitted after application submission?

Yes, category change requests are allowed during the specified correction window after the last date for application submission, against additional payment and with proper documentation.

Required Documents:

  • Valid category certificate as per government norms
  • Scanned copy of certificate in prescribed format
  • Additional fee payment for category change
