Understand the GATE syllabus:

1. Once the GATE conducting institute releases the syllabus, it is crucial to visit their official website and download a copy of the syllabus. A comprehensive understanding of the syllabus serves as a valuable roadmap, enabling you to focus your efforts on the prescribed areas and concepts instead of wasting time on irrelevant topics.

2. By familiarizing yourself with the syllabus, you can effectively plan your study schedule and develop a productive strategy. It is advisable to keep a printed or digital copy of the syllabus readily accessible for future reference.

3. Carefully examine the syllabus and compare it with your semester syllabus to identify areas that require more attention. This comparative analysis aids in prioritizing your study time and resources accordingly.

Create a preparation strategy:

When devising a preparation strategy for the GATE exam, it is important to tailor it to your individual learning preferences, subject knowledge, interests, and study patterns. Here are some steps to create a personalized and effective preparation strategy:

1. Self-assessment: Identify your strong and weak areas by evaluating your subject knowledge. This will help you allocate time and resources accordingly.

2. Balanced approach: Develop a balanced approach to your studies, considering both the GATE exam and your regular course. Divide your time and focus between the two, ensuring that neither is neglected.

3. Time management: Divide your daily study time for each subject. Set learning targets for the day, week, and month to track your progress and stay motivated.

4. Prioritization: Prioritize subjects based on their importance in the GATE exam. Allocate more time to subjects that carry higher weightage.

5. Categorization: Categorize topics within each subject as difficult/easy and most important/less important. This will help you allocate time and effort effectively, focusing on areas that require more attention.

6. Weightage consideration: Allocate more time to subject papers and dedicate reasonable time to General Studies/Current Affairs, aligning with their respective weightage in the exam.

7. Systematic approach: Create a study schedule that aligns with your energy levels and preferences. If you are more productive at night, adjust your study time accordingly.

8. Personalization: Adapt the preparation strategy to suit your sleeping patterns, habits, and preferences. By doing so, you can optimize your productivity and effectiveness.

By following these steps, you can create a personalized and systematic preparation strategy for the GATE exam that maximizes your chances of success.

Create a timetable:

After finalizing your preparation strategy, it’s essential to create a realistic and achievable timetable to structure your study routine. Here’s a suggested timetable that can be adapted based on your specific schedule:

1. Morning Study:

– Wake up early to study before your online classes begin.

– Allocate 1-2 hours for GATE preparation during this time.

– Prioritize your college commitments while maintaining a balance with your GATE preparation.

5. Evening GATE Preparation:

– Take a short break and then resume your GATE preparation.

– Dedicate a focused block of time for studying concepts and solving sample tests.

– Aim for 2-3 hours of concentrated study during this period.

6. Sleep Routine:

– Ensure you get a sufficient amount of sleep, aiming for 7-8 hours each day.

– Maintain a consistent sleep schedule to support your overall study routine and maintain good health.

Remember to customize this timetable according to your specific needs and preferences. It is crucial to find a balance between your college commitments and GATE preparation while allowing time for rest and rejuvenation.

Revision:

1. Regular revision is crucial to keep your studies on track.

2. Develop the habit of taking notes during online classes or while reading materials.

3. Include dedicated time slots in your timetable for regular revisions.

4. During revision, focus on noting down core ideas, concepts, terms, and equations using concise words.

1. Online Coaching: Conduct thorough research to identify reputable institutes that offer online coaching for GATE preparation. Assess the effectiveness and affordability of their courses. Joining an online coaching program can provide a structured and time-bound system for your preparation, with classes, live sessions, and regular tests to keep you focused and systematic.

2. Postal Study Materials: Another option is to opt for postal study materials from well-known coaching institutes. This choice offers flexibility in your study schedule, making it suitable for self-motivated individuals who prefer self-paced learning.

3. Resource Evaluation: Evaluate the quality of study materials available online, such as video lectures, e-books, and practice questions. Look for reliable sources and check for positive reviews and recommendations from trusted individuals or online communities.

4. Study Groups and Forums: Engage with online study groups, forums, or social media communities focused on GATE preparation. These platforms allow you to connect with like-minded individuals, share resources, and discuss relevant topics.

Remember, the choice of study materials may depend on your learning style, preferences, and availability. It’s important to select materials that align with your needs and help you prepare effectively for the GATE exam.

Doing online tests and previous year questions:

Incorporating online tests and solving previous year question papers into your GATE preparation can be highly beneficial. Here are the advantages of including these practices:

1. Performance Assessment: Solving previous year question papers allows you to assess your performance continually. It helps you identify areas where you need improvement, enabling you to adjust your study pattern accordingly.

2. Study Organization: By solving previous year questions, you can better understand the requirements and pattern of the exam. This knowledge helps you structure your study routine to align with the exam’s demands.

3. Time Management: Practicing with previous year papers enhances your time-management skills. It trains you to allocate time effectively to each type of question, ensuring that you utilize the exam hours efficiently.

4. Familiarity with Question Patterns: Solving previous years’ questions enables you to become familiar with the exam’s question patterns. You can identify recurring or frequently asked questions, allowing you to prioritize specific topics during your preparation.

5. Understanding Scoring Methodology: By solving previous year papers, you can gain insights into the scoring methodology used in the exam. This understanding helps you strategize your approach and optimize your score.

Incorporating online tests and solving previous year question papers into your preparation routine contributes to a comprehensive and well-rounded study approach, increasing your chances of success in the GATE exam.

Self-motivation and willpower:

Self-motivation and willpower play a crucial role in preparing for the GATE exam alongside your studies. Here are some tips to stay motivated and determined throughout your preparation:

1. Strong Determination: Develop a strong mindset and make a firm commitment to achieve your goals. Train your mind to believe that you are capable of accomplishing whatever it takes to succeed.

2. Seek Inspiration: Surround yourself with inspiring stories of students, entrepreneurs, and successful individuals who have overcome challenges and achieved their goals. Their experiences can motivate and encourage you during tough times.

3. Focus on the Positive: Maintain a positive outlook and focus on the progress you have made rather than dwelling on setbacks. Learn from your mistakes, adapt your approach, and move forward with enthusiasm.

4. Be Kind to Yourself: Avoid being too hard on yourself if you don’t meet all your learning goals. Recognize that everyone has their own pace of progress. Celebrate your achievements, no matter how small, and appreciate the efforts you put in.

5. Take Breaks: It’s important to listen to your body and mind. If you feel tired or stressed out, take short breaks to recharge. Engage in activities you enjoy or practice self-care techniques to rejuvenate yourself.

6. Believe in Yourself: Have unwavering faith in your abilities and believe that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Visualize the outcome of your hard work and keep your focus on the rewards and opportunities that await you.

Remember, with determination, planning, and a positive mindset, you can overcome challenges and achieve success in both the GATE exam and your college studies. Stay motivated, stay focused, and believe in your potential. Best of luck on your journey towards your dreams!

Speed vs Accuracy | What is more Important? | GATE Exam 2021

Hello Aspirants,

In my opinion, one of the biggest challenges that one faces during the preparation of any entrance examination is to decide whether to focus more on speed or accuracy and how to achieve an optimal balance of both.

Due to this many students are not able to perform to their caliber in the exam, so the question becomes how to get around this problem.

In Earlier GATE exams the balance was tilted more in the favor of speed but now due to the inclusion of Numerical Type Questions the balance is tilted back in the favor of accuracy. Let me explain how.

Mostly, Numerical Type Questions are not straightforward question, you have to do a lot of computation to get around those, so if your accuracy is good you need not look at that question twice but if not you may be worried and may have to check that question twice or thrice due to which you may lose time and end up attempting less than expected number of problems and results may be worse than expected.

So what should a student do during the preparation to avoid getting into this kind of situation is that during the initial stages of preparation you must focus more on Accuracy and less on speed, even if you attempt 10 to 15 questions in an hour but with good accuracy, that is more than enough. Speed is something that will build up gradually as you will come across the similar type of questions so you will get used to club 2-3 steps in a single step to save time.

So my advice to all GATE aspirants will be not to get over-stressed if you are attempting less number of questions in a given time at present as you will gain speed eventually but accuracy is not something that you can attain eventually so focus more on accuracy as that will also boost your self-confidence.

How Education Can Lift People from Poverty ?

“Education is not a way to escape poverty; it is a way of Fighting it”. The power of education is irrefutable across the world, both socially and personally, in both developing and developed countries. In fact, Education can be denoted as the only pathway to human development. It is believed that ensuring quality education for all is not only essential to accomplish the set developmental Goals but is equally indispensable to end the extreme poverty.

Education can certainly be the catalyst required to liberate the families and communities from the shackles of poverty. Knowledge bestows children with the power to dream of a better future and the confidence required to pursue adequate education, which in turn will help generations to come. This is not yet, a well-educated person can make significant changes in his/her life, particularly when it applies to day-to-day life activities – such as nutrition, healthcare and gender equality. If our roots are strengthened, it is likely that the fruits will be healthier and nutritious.

Education plays a vital role when it comes to reducing and preventing global poverty. It’s time for us to realize the importance of education and begin investing in it significantly. Providing education to every citizen of the country is the only way to ensure that poverty declines. Let’s have a look at some of the most significant ways education helps control poverty:

Increases Income:
If we go by the Research, an extra year of schooling can boost the income by at least 10%. In fact, just two more years at secondary schooling could help lift a lot of people out of poverty. If a person gets educated, he not only gains more knowledge but also imbibes good skills which all together leads to an increased productivity. Educated people will look out for better ways to diversify their sources of income. One should not forget that people with even a little education are more flexible to changes like economic, personal etc.
Empowers Women and Girls:
It’s well-said that ‘If you educate a man, you educate an individual. But if you educate a woman, you educate a family & a Nation. One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can Change the World”.

Education does play a vital role in empowering girls and women. Mothers who can take better decisions for their families can extremely impact that push out of poverty. Education is the key for women to achieve economic independence. They gain the power that enables them to take decisions of their lives. For instance, they can choose to have fewer children and ensure better facilities for them such as vaccines, medical care, better nutrition and above all Education.

Therefore, to breakdown the shackles of poverty and inequality being followed from generations, it is important that the women of the house are educated.

Enables a Healthy Lifestyle:
Education enhances people’s knowledge of how to live a healthy lifestyle. Educated people have better awareness about what kinds of food are nutritious and what precautions they need to take to avoid health-related problems. A healthy lifestyle is all about how educated you are about your surroundings and day-to-day activities. For instance, educated mothers are the first doctors of their families – they know how to keep their families safe and protected from any unhealthy and adulterated meal.
Conclusion:
It all sums up to one thing ‘Education can help us eradicate poverty and liberate people from its bounds’. It’s time to realize the True Significance of Education and use it as a Weapon to fight poverty & walk the path of a better, healthier and prosperous life.

How to Study for the Exams- A Fruitful Technique!

For many of students, exams can be stressful. Today, we introduce you to a novel time management technique called the Pomodoro Technique. Managing time is one of the biggest problems while preparing for exams. And this technique is an effective strategy to deal with this issue.

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

Author and time management expert Francesco Cirillo invented the Pomodoro Technique in the early 90s. He named the technique “Pomodoro” after his tomato-shaped timer. The technique is known for its simplicity. All you got to do is divide your task into smaller tasks that you can accomplish in time intervals. Each time interval is called a  “Pomodoro”. These intervals are spaced out by short breaks. The only rule is you don’t do anything else during your Pomodoro session except for the task you have taken up.

How to study using the Pomodoro Technique?

What is the Logic behind the Pomodoro Technique?

  • Short breaks help you concentrate better
  • This work-break-work pattern helps stay motivated
  • The Pomodoro Technique is known to improve decision-making
  • It helps fight the stress of time management

Do not worry if you find it difficult to do four Pomodoros right from the beginning. Even two sessions at a go is a good start. If you are one of those people who get easily distracted, especially while preparing for exams, then its time you try the Pomodoro Technique.

How to Secure AIR 1 in GATE Exam 2021?

Dear aspirants,

Hope that your preparation is going good. Here we are going to put all possible points so that they can help you in preparation.

Every year, 3–4 thousands of engineering aspirants compete for GATE exam, therefore, it becomes very important for candidates to start their preparation early to stay ahead in the race.

Steps to Crack GATE Exam

  • Make a Study Schedule to Track Your GATE Preparation and stick to that till the exam.
  • Find Your Strengths and Weakness to Boost GATE Preparation and to know that join Online Test Series.
  • Use Top-notch Preparation Books & Study Material for GATE Preparation
  • Solve problems of each and every topic and don’t leave any topic.
  • At first focus on accuracy and later speed will automatically come and for the same, use VIRTUAL Calculator while solving problems (Download it on your cellphone).
  • Try not to mug up things, instead understand their origin.
  • Clarify Your Doubts and Don’t Forget to Revise.
  • Your schedule should be divided for 2 Important Things: Preparation & Revision.
Now by Preparation, We mean any of the subjects that you are already preparing for or want to prepare for. Now when it comes to Revision, make sure you dedicate 3 hours/day for revision. If you are a college student or working professional then you can set a target of 21 hours/week so in that way, you can invest more time in revision during weekends.

    • And you should have short notes containing all the important concepts so that you can revise the entire topic or subject in a short span of time. Also, during this entire course of revision, keep on solving related problems.

  • The moment you make a mistake while solving any question, you should note it down somewhere. Because there is much high probability that you will make the same mistakes again and again. So before attempting any question or any test, you will be already aware of what types of mistakes you can commit.
  • Now out of these 3 hours for revision, don’t waste much time in Theory. You can just devote 1 hour to the theory part and rest 2 hours to Problem-solving part. And it is expected that you should be able to solve around 30-40 questions during these 2 hours.
  • Join Online Test Series and it’s very important because nowadays they (GATE Examiners) are asking very conceptual questions. Join TestUrSelf because we provide test papers at par GATE syllabus.( but don’t feel low if you will not get good rank in the tests because they are somewhat tougher than GATE Exam). We intentionally make some tough questions so that you can easily solve the questions in real GATE Exam.
  • Keep Exam stress Bay.

One last thing..don’t let negative thoughts come to inside you( stay away from negative people). Always say to Urself…I am going to make it…I am going to crack the exam.

How to tackle pressure in the last 3 months before the GATE Exam?

Dear GATE aspirants,

Undergoing exam pressure is a very common situation, in fact, every other student goes through it.

Let us help you in beating pressure during the GATE Preparation.

But before that let’s discuss the reasons for this pressure

  • If the Time is Less and the Course is More then you might get under pressure
  • Peer performance pressure
  • Family expectations
  • No revision
  • Poor results
  • Fear of Failure

Now around 20 days of October are gone, then you still have 10 days of Oct + 30 days of Nov + 30 days of Dec + 30 days of Jan which means approx 50% of the total time.

Your rank depends on how effectively you utilize this left out time.

If you self study for 6 hrs/day then you have 600 hours with you. Now, why not give 4 hours/day for course completion and 2 hours/day for revision. In this way you can solve one of the major problems: “Less Time & Vast Syllabus”

Now the second problem is Peer performance pressure, but you must keep in mind every student has a different story and a different starting point.

So your only competition should be You.
